Vote NO on HJRes 140

To: Sen. Husted, Sen. Moreno

From: A verified voter in Cleveland, OH

April 15

I am writing with great urgency to demand that you vote NO on H.J. Res. 140. This resolution would invoke the Congressional Review Act to erase Public Land Order 7917 — a carefully considered protection of 225,504 acres of federal lands in northern Minnesota. These are not just numbers on a map. These are public lands held in trust for every American, serving as the ecological lifeline of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Using the CRA to nullify a land withdrawal of this magnitude is an abuse of the legislative process. Public Land Order 7917 was established through years of scientific review, public comment, and deliberate analysis. To overturn it with a simple resolution — bypassing the full weight of environmental review — is to tell millions of Americans that their public lands can be handed to extractive industries at the stroke of a pen. I urge you to stand against this resolution. Voting yes on H.J. Res. 140 would be a vote to permanently risk the clean water, wildlife, and wilderness character of the Boundary Waters — a national treasure that, once contaminated, cannot be restored. Vote NO on H.J. Res. 140. Protect our public lands. Honor the democratic process that put these protections in place.
