Protect Trans Lives — Act on Murry Foust's Death

To: Sen. Nesbitt, Rep. Andrews, Gov. Whitmer

From: A verified voter in Stevensville, MI

June 11

Murry Foust, a 22-year-old transgender art student at Northern Kentucky University, was found dead on May 24, 2025, after nearly a month of searching. He was two weeks from graduation. His death is a devastating reminder that transgender people — kids and adults — remain vulnerable, and I need you to take concrete action to protect them. The missing-persons alert for Murry wasn't issued until three days after he was last seen. That delay matters. Faster, more robust response protocols for missing transgender individuals could save lives. Beyond that, Kentucky needs stronger hate crime protections and dedicated resources for law enforcement to investigate threats against trans people. Right now, those protections are inadequate. Murry's family is honoring his memory with a scholarship for art students. They deserve more than condolences — they deserve a representative who will fight to make sure no other family goes through this. Please support legislation that protects transgender people from violence and ensures law enforcement takes threats to their safety seriously.
