The situation in Gaza, already a humanitarian crisis of almost unequaled horror die to lack of basic needs, is being exacerbated by an unwarranted invasion from Israel. The ongoing attack is actively killing civilians and threatens to displace millions into unsafe conditions. As the primary financiers of this disaster, we the people of the United States have the moral and ethical obligation to act in opposition to this course of action, because of the cost to human life, but also because allowing the situation to escalate will further destabilize the region and in turn threaten our own prospects of security and prosperity. As Americans who value freedom and the sanctity of life, we have the duty to acknowledge Benjamin Netanyahu's antisemitic campaign of extermination against Israel's Arabic and Muslim neighbors. We must also acknowledge those actions of the IDF which violate international codes of martial conduct. I realize that nothing we can do will resolve this conflict quickly. I don't expect an answer to be simple, but we must be better than we have been. In order to mitigate the spread of disaster in the region, we must allow humanitarian aid into Palestine, and pursue unbiased application of justice against all military forces, regardless of allegiance, who perpetrate war crimes. I hereby urge you to construct policy according to morally and ethically sound principles, rational thinking, and a healthy respect for human life, all in tandem. The alternative is the abandonment of our core principles and the inescapable and ultimately deserved destruction of our own way of life.
