March 24

As of today, March 24, 2026, armed ICE agents have been deployed to 14 airports across the United States. This is not a security upgrade. TSA handles airport security. CBP handles border enforcement. ICE agents are not trained for airport operations, and their presence serves no legitimate safety function. What it does serve is intimidation. Steve Bannon has publicly called this deployment a "test run" for the 2026 midterms. That is not a conspiracy theory — it is a stated goal from inside the movement driving this policy. This year, ICE killed two U.S. citizens in Minneapolis. Agents have made arrests at airports without judicial warrants, in direct defiance of court orders. A federal judge recently ruled that ICE had "all but extinguished" detainees' right to counsel during Operation Metro Surge — flying people to Texas within hours, blocking attorney access, and pressuring detainees to sign removal forms without legal representation. This is not immigration enforcement. This is the systematic dismantling of due process. I am asking you to use every tool available to defund, restrict, and investigate this deployment. Demand a full accounting of every arrest made at an airport. Support legislation requiring judicial warrants before any airport detention. Do not vote for any funding bill that does not include hard limits on ICE authority. The people passing through our airports are our neighbors, our families, and our constituents. They deserve to travel without fear of warrantless arrest. That should not be a partisan position.
