Illegal Firings - Project 2025’s Demand That All Employees Are Trump Loyalist
To: Rep. Moran, Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Cruz
From: A constituent in Kilgore, TX
March 13
I am writing to express deep concern over the Trump administration’s recent actions undermining the integrity of our federal workforce. Specifically, I urge you to investigate the mass firings based on fraudulent performance reviews and the implementation of Project 2025, which seeks to replace nonpartisan civil servants with political loyalists—the ultimate example of D.E.I. (Dogmatic Enslaved Incompetence). Illegal Mass Firings Based on Fabricated Performance Reviews On March 13, 2025, U.S. District Judge William Alsup ruled that the administration unlawfully terminated probationary employees across multiple agencies, including the Departments of Veterans Affairs, Agriculture, Defense, Energy, Interior, and the Treasury. The judge found that the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), under Acting Director Charles Ezell, had no authority for these mass firings and called the performance-based justifications a “lie.” Adding to the scandal, Ezell refused to testify, and the administration withdrew a sworn declaration from him to prevent cross-examination. Judge Alsup condemned the move, stating: “Come on, that’s a sham… I’ve been practicing or serving in this court for over 50 years, and I know how we get at the truth.” Project 2025: Politicizing the Federal Workforce Alongside these illegal firings, the administration is executing Project 2025, developed by the Heritage Foundation, which seeks to reclassify tens of thousands of civil service positions to remove nonpartisan employees and replace them with Trump loyalists. This threatens the very foundation of a merit-based, apolitical civil service and risks turning our government into a partisan machine. Call for Congressional Investigation Given these alarming developments, I urge Congress to investigate: 1. Selection Criteria for Terminations – Who decided which employees were fired, and on what basis? Were political affiliations or whistleblower status factors? 2. Legitimacy of Performance Reviews – Were negative reviews fabricated to justify these mass firings? 3. Role of OPM and Agency Leadership – Did the White House pressure federal agencies into purging non-loyalist employees? 4. Implementation and Impact of Project 2025 – How is this plan being carried out, and how many career civil servants have been replaced with political operatives? 5. Safeguards Against Politicization – What protections exist to preserve a nonpartisan civil service? These actions have severe implications, not only for those wrongfully terminated but for the integrity of our government. If allowed to continue, this sets a dangerous precedent, prioritizing political loyalty over competence and impartiality. I urge you to take immediate action to hold those responsible accountable. The American people deserve a transparent and impartial government—not one that turns federal service into a political patronage system.
