What President Trump said about President Zelenskyy is unacceptable. President Zelenskyy is not a dictator. He did not start the war in Ukraine. President Putin of Russia *invaded* Ukraine. Putin started the war by invading a sovereign country. President Zelenskyy did not steal any money from the United States. The support that we sent to Ukraine, our ally, was approved by Congress. Approximately $70 billion of the aid authorized for Ukraine will never leave the US. Instead, it supports our world-leading defense industry and creates well-paid jobs across 38 states. Fact: Europe has spent more than the US on Ukraine aid. According to the Kiel Institute for the World Economy’s Ukraine aid tracker, total European commitments are now more than double those of the US after totaling all aid (military, economic, humanitarian, and refugee). Twenty European countries have given more to Ukraine than the US as a percentage of GDP. We cannot abandon our allies. As a representative of the people of Wisconsin, it is part of your job to make sure the President is receiving the correct information. Apparently, whoever is giving him information right now is not telling him the truth.
