Get the Marines out of Los Angeles.

To: Rep. Neguse, Sen. Hickenlooper, Sen. Bennet

From: A verified voter in Estes Park, CO

June 10

congress President Trump has once again violated the Constitution of the United States, most specifically the 10th Amendment that allowing states the sovereignty to police their own affairs unless the request for federal support is requested by the Governor of the state. Without permission from California’s Governor, Trump mobilized the National Guard in Los Angeles in response to protests to his administration’s policy on immigration. Likewise, he has mobilized Marines from TwentyNine Palms to also be present in Los Angeles. He claims that without such deployment, Los Angeles would be “completely obliterated.” This sets a dangerous precedent for use of the National Guard without proper oversight, and for using the U.S. military in addressing domestic issues. Please ensure that Trump’s power does not exceed his constitution parameters.
