Prioritize healthcare over tax cuts favoring wealthy corporations

To: Sen. Mullin, Sen. Lankford, Rep. Hern

From: A constituent in Tulsa, OK

February 26

The Republican budget resolution calls for drastic cuts to Medicaid and other vital social programs to finance tax cuts that overwhelmingly benefit the wealthy and corporations. This approach is deeply misguided and runs counter to the interests of working families and vulnerable populations who rely on Medicaid for essential healthcare coverage. It reflects a skewed set of priorities that favors tax breaks for the affluent over the well-being of average Americans. Slashing nearly $900 billion from Medicaid stands to strip millions of their healthcare and increase financial hardship, just to fund tax giveaways for the richest 1%. This budget betrays the trust of constituents who expect their elected representatives to uplift the middle class, not cater to the demands of billionaire donors and corporate interests. The American people deserve better than policies that widen inequality and undermine their access to vital services like healthcare and nutrition assistance. A responsible budget should focus on creating economic opportunities and making life more affordable for working families, not facilitating further wealth concentration at the top through tax cuts that primarily advantage the nation's highest earners.
