Demand Investigation: NFLX-WB - Lies, Deception, and Failure to Disclose
To: Sen. Bennet, Rep. Crow, Sen. Hickenlooper
From: A constituent in Englewood, CO
February 9
I am writing as a CONCERNED constituent to demand an immediate and comprehensive INDEPENDENT investigation into the proposed Netflix–Warner Bros. Discovery merger and the conduct of public officials involved in shaping public perception of this deal. According to public disclosures, on December 12, 2025, President Trump purchased approximately $51 million in Netflix-linked bonds. On January 20th, 2026, the merger was restructured into a cash-based deal, significantly altering its financial impact. This timing raises serious conflict-of-interest concerns that warrant congressional scrutiny. I'm sure President Trump was thinking this is a PRETTI - GOOD DEAL... These concerns were further amplified on February 3, when Ted Cruz INTENTIONALLY questioned the CEO'S in a manner that INTENTIONALLY misled the public and any of you who are unaware of this scheme. He appeared to strongly oppose the merger because it would create a LEFT BIASED MEDIA MONOPOLY. I believe his intent was to deceive and garner support from the Anti-MAGA movement by appearing to oppose the resulting Monopoly. I have seen HUNDREDS of comments saying "Well, if Ted opposes it, I am probably for it!”. If this questioning was intended to misdirect public sentiment and manufacture political support through deception, it represents a serious breach of public trust. When political theater, financial interests, and corporate consolidation converge, democratic accountability collapses. This merger, under these circumstances, threatens: • The integrity of the regulatory process • The independence of the media • The First Amendment • Public confidence in government oversight No public official should use their platform to distort facts, manipulate public perception, or shield conflicts of interest. This is a direct attack on the rights of citizens of the United States of America, and the Constitution he has sworn to uphold. I therefore call for: • An immediate investigation into executive and legislative financial ties • Full review of the December bond purchases and January restructuring • Examination of misleading public statements surrounding the merger • Enforcement of ethics, disclosure, and recusal laws • Accountability for any official by way of their IMMEDIATE removal from office! If any member of Congress is found to have intentionally misled the public to advance this merger, appropriate disciplinary action—including resignation—must be considered. This is not a partisan issue. It is a constitutional one. The American people deserve independent media, transparent governance, and leaders who act in good faith. Defend the Constitution. Protect free speech. Expose conflicts. STOP THIS MERGER.
