Trump is putting a LOT of pressure on Congress to pass the Save America Act. As your constituent I am asking you to say NO. This is not a voter ID act. This is an enormous voter suppression act. EVERY person would have to reregister to vote. They would need a passport and/or an embossed birth certificate. MANY Americans have neither nor do they have the money or ability to get either in a timely fashion. Every woman who has taken her husband’s last name is in jeopardy of losing her right to vote. Anyone who cannot come up with the documents OR physically get to a location to re-register would be disenfranchised. This would be disastrous. FURTHERMORE it would force states to turn over personal information to the US government. No one wants that to happen. The government is using AI software that would further purge voter rolls. Trump has said we don’t need elections, that he wants to nationalize elections. This would be putting the power of elections into Trump’s hands effectively destroying state-run systems that have worked well from the beginning of our nation. Our elections are safe and secure. Unless you’re willing to turn our democracy over to a president who denies ever losing an election, wants to re-write history and declare he won the elections he lost, and would destroy our democratic election system to retain power YOU WILL STAND UP TO HIS THREATS AND VOTE NO.
