Restore SNAP Funding Cuts Now

To: Sen. Schiff, Sen. Padilla

From: A constituent in Oakland, CA

August 25

Reverse the cuts to SNAP. Millions of families depend on this program to put food on the table, and slashing its funding doesn't reduce hunger — it just shifts the cost onto food banks, emergency rooms, and communities that are already stretched thin. SNAP is one of the most effective anti-hunger tools the federal government has. Every dollar in benefits generates economic activity in local grocery stores and small businesses. Cutting it doesn't save money in any meaningful sense — it causes real harm to real people while the savings evaporate downstream. Vote to restore full SNAP funding and reject any budget proposal that treats food assistance as a line item to balance on the backs of working families and children.
