Economy red flag: January 2026 job loss data

To: Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Doggett, Sen. Cruz

From: A constituent in Cedar Park, TX

February 7

The U.S. economy shed more than 100,000 jobs in January 2026, the most the 2009 recession. What are you doing to support unemployed Americans and promote economic growth that will have a positive impact on the average American rather than the top 1%? Supporting senseless tariffs, pointless foreign invasions and investments, and domestic data and detention centers equals ballooning deficit spending does nothing for the majority of the country but will cripple our economy for decades. Focus on actionable, achievable legislation that provides affordable healthcare, housing and education for everyone. Not just more profit for a few.
