Phase out fossil fuel subsidies for sustainable energy transition

The Inflation Reduction Act is a significant step forward in addressing climate change and transitioning to a clean energy economy. However, it falls short in ending subsidies and tax breaks for fossil fuel companies that have exacerbated the climate crisis. Eliminating these subsidies would level the playing field for renewable energy sources while holding polluters accountable. As constituents concerned about environmental protection and climate action, we urge you to build on this legislation by introducing measures to phase out fossil fuel subsidies and incentivize investment in truly sustainable energy solutions. The continued subsidization of oil and gas contradicts our nation's climate goals and perpetuates our reliance on dirty energy sources. By redirecting this funding toward renewables like solar and wind, we can accelerate the clean energy transition, create new jobs, and make meaningful progress in reducing emissions and safeguarding our planet's future.
