Vote no on HB360, the so-called Power To The People Act. This bill is a transparent attempt by Alabama Power to tighten its grip on the Public Service Commission, not loosen it.
The governor appointing four of seven commissioners in 2026 means Alabama Power gets to handpick a majority before voters ever see a ballot. The three-year rate freeze until 2029 sounds good until you realize it locks in the inflated rates Alabama Power just secured. Once their appointed commissioners take over, those rates go nowhere but up. This is a utility company buying itself a captive regulator with a better PR spin.
If this bill truly gave power to the people, it wouldn't need Alabama Power's PAC money behind it. The lobbying dollars funding this push prove whose interests it serves. Real reform would mean immediate elections, not a rigged appointment process that guarantees utility control for years.
Refuse to be bought. Vote no on HB360 and demand actual accountability to ratepayers, not to Alabama Power's bottom line.
