An Open Letter

To: Sen. Moreno, Sen. Husted

From: A constituent in Coventry Township, OH

February 6

The administration's directive to unleash domestic energy production and roll back protections for endangered species is deeply concerning. Drilling in sensitive areas like the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and opening up fragile landscapes would cause irreversible harm to vulnerable ecosystems and hasten the decline of imperiled plant and animal species. The Endangered Species Act has been instrumental in safeguarding iconic American wildlife, but weakening its provisions to prioritize fossil fuel extraction over conservation efforts is shortsighted and reckless. I urge you to uphold robust protections for endangered species and their habitats, which provide invaluable ecological services. Pursuing an aggressive "drill, baby, drill" agenda at the expense of biodiversity will only exacerbate the extinction crisis and environmental degradation. We must balance energy needs with responsible stewardship of our natural heritage for future generations.
