Defend the federal funding of our state’s health care system.

To: Sen. Kelly, Sen. Gallego, Rep. Crane

From: A constituent in Kearny, AZ

April 6

The termination of nearly $200 million in federal health grants for Arizona is deeply concerning and will have far-reaching impacts on our state's public health infrastructure. These funds support critical efforts like disease surveillance, vaccination programs, behavioral health services, rural and tribal health initiatives, and maintaining a skilled healthcare workforce. Losing this funding jeopardizes jobs and undermines our ability to respond effectively to public health challenges. I urge you to take immediate action to restore these vital grants. Public health is a core function of government, and robust funding is essential to protect the well-being of all Arizonans, especially in underserved rural and tribal communities. The abrupt termination of these grants is disruptive and potentially devastating to organizations and health departments that rely on this support. As a representative, you have the power to exercise oversight and ensure the executive branch does not overstep its bounds. I call on you to stand firm in upholding the principle of checks and balances by using the power of the purse to reinstate this critically important funding. Our state's public health preparedness and the health of our communities depend on your leadership on this issue.
