Demand an Independent Medical Evaluation of President Trump

To: Rep. Elfreth, Sen. Alsobrooks, Sen. Van Hollen

June 3

The public deserves an honest, independent medical assessment of President Trump's health — not carefully managed statements from a personal physician. In April 2025, the White House declared Trump in "excellent cognitive and physical health" with "unimpaired blood flow to extremities." By July, they were announcing a diagnosis of chronic venous insufficiency, a condition defined by the inability to push blood back from the extremities. Those two statements cannot both be true. The observable evidence goes beyond swollen ankles. Trump's speech patterns — trailing off mid-sentence, slurring words, apparent lapses in awareness — are consistent with neurological decline, and his strong family history of dementia makes this a serious concern. When real footage of the President is being mistaken for AI-generated video, something is wrong. The American people are not asking for a diagnosis. We are asking for transparency. Please push for an independent, nonpartisan medical panel to evaluate the President's cognitive and physical condition. The current arrangement, where a hand-picked doctor issues contradictory clearances, is not accountability. The office of the presidency carries consequences too significant for the public to be kept in the dark about who is actually capable of holding it.
