I am urging you to vote NO on the Continuing Resolution (CR). Congress cannot keep pretending that reckless spending and fiscal irresponsibility are sustainable. Worse, pushing tax cuts for high earners while we are drowning in debt is the height of irresponsibility.
Now is not the time for tax cuts. We have debts to pay. We have obligations to meet. High earners are not suffering—they have built their wealth in a nation that provided them the opportunity to succeed. It is only fair and patriotic that they pay their share to bring down our debt faster, instead of getting unnecessary breaks while everyday Americans struggle.
The distribution of the last round of tax cuts was wildly unequal:
The richest 1% of Iowans (about 15,000 people) received 50.2% of the state's tax cuts, averaging a $50,050 tax break per person.
Meanwhile, the middle fifth of Iowans (about 300,000 people) received just 6.8% of the tax cuts, averaging only $340 per person.
This is not fiscal conservatism—it’s a giveaway to the wealthy at the expense of everyone else. Cutting taxes when we are deep in debt slows down financial recovery, benefits no one in the long run, and forces future generations to pay for today's bad decisions.
Meanwhile, this administration’s mass firings and rehirings are destroying American lives and weakening national security. This is not responsible governance. Congress must stop governing by crisis and start acting like adults.
No more debt increases. No more handouts to the wealthy. No more reckless policies that put Americans at risk.
Vote NO on the CR. Demand real fiscal responsibility.
