Today, Memorial Day, America remembers generations of our citizens who put themselves in harms way to defend our Republic, and the democracy for which it stands. Without their selfless sacrifice, we would have no country to celebrate. But we also look around and see that the America they signed up to defend no longer exists. Except on paper. The current administration should no longer be called an administration, they are a regime. With little remaining of honor or tradition or respect for the country and its citizens. The list of why this is is endless. We read a new aberration every single day. A new assault against the core of what makes America, America. Now the DOJ has removed press releases detailing the charges against hundreds of individuals who participated in the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot from its website. DOJ was not ashamed of the reporting on this action. Instead they responded to a tweet claiming they were “quietly” deleting the information by bragging: “Nothing ‘quiet’ about it.

We are proud to reverse the DOJ’s weaponization under the Biden administration. We will do everything in our power to make whole those who were persecuted for political purposes. This includes stripping DOJ’s website of partisan propaganda.” P.S. It was an insurrection. Pardoning the perpetrators won’t change that. Rewriting history won’t change that. Nothing will change that. The DOJ has become Trump’s enforcer. There is apparently no service the DOJ will refuse him. Including the effort by Trump on day one of his second term in office to erase the insurrection, beginning with the pardons of Rudy Giuliani and the fake slates of electors. It went on to include virtually everyone who was present at or involved with the 1/6 attack on the Capitol, including those charged with insurrection. Some only received clemency because even Trump, apparently, didn’t believe he could get away with outright pardons. The DOJ oversaw the firing of prosecutors and agents assigned to work cases and leads in the January 6 investigation. Just this past week they signed off on Trump’s $1.776 billion “anti-weaponization fund.” A no-irony, flag-toting repurposing of taxpayer dollars Congress allocated to DOJ’s judgment fund as reward payments to Trump friends and allies who “suffered weaponization and lawfare.” And when asked directly, acting AG Blanche declined to exclude even defendants convicted of violent offenses in connection with January 6 from eligibility for payment out of Trump’s slush fund. Even more icing on this shameless cake…in a meeting before they left town for Memorial Day, every Republican member voted against a measure proposed that would have excluded members of Congress from filing to receive a payout from the fund. Is this the new standard of America that we encourage our young men and women to sign up to defend? We want them to defend corruption? Lawlessness? Disregard for our Constitution? A trampling of our civil rights? Our human rights? Basic decency? All so a guy elected to serve the country and citizens can instead pervert our systems for his own gain? And use the power he was given not to lead, but to punish anyone he deems disloyal or an enemy? He’s trampling on America. And daring any of you with the power to do so, to stop him. Instead, you’ve given him the keys to his kingdom. For all the service members, past, present, and future…thank you. We the people appreciate it all. More than you know. We thank you for the gift of America that you’ve made possible. Here’s hoping bad actors, and politicians, don’t manage to damage it beyond repair.
