Stop Backing Losing Establishment Candidates — Listen to Voters

To: Sen. Padilla, Sen. Schiff, Rep. Chu

From: A verified voter in Pasadena, CA

August 2

Shame on the Democratic establishment for not having a message that resonates with people. While progressives like Abdul El-Sayed, Francesca Hong, and Will Lawrence are building real momentum by talking about affordability, data centers, and economic populism, party leadership keeps pouring tens of millions into candidates voters have already rejected. The DSCC and AIPAC-aligned super PACs spent over $60 million trying to stop El-Sayed alone. That money didn't move voters — it moved them in the opposite direction. Primary voters are not confused. They know exactly what they want, and it isn't another "pragmatic" candidate who puts corporate donors first. Lawrence won over Trump supporters in a purple Michigan district by opposing hyperscale data centers that threaten property values and community character. Hong is leading in Wisconsin despite her DSA membership because she's talking about permanent affordability and voters believe her. The establishment's failure to consolidate around credible alternatives early isn't a messaging problem — it's a values problem. Stop running candidates for donors and start running candidates for the people who actually show up to vote.
