Excuse me, but why is the Trump administration pursuing a nuclear agreement that could allow Saudi Arabia to enrich uranium while simultaneously arguing that Iran cannot be trusted with similar capabilities? That is a contradiction the American people deserve to have explained. Fifteen of the nineteen 9/11 hijackers were Saudi nationals. Families of the victims continue to pursue litigation alleging that Saudi officials provided support to some of the hijackers, allegations the Saudi government denies. Those questions have never been fully put to rest. Now the administration wants Congress to approve a nuclear cooperation agreement that reportedly omits key nonproliferation safeguards required in previous U.S. agreements, raising concerns among arms control experts and members of Congress from both parties. Congress: do your job. Conduct real oversight. Ask hard questions. If we're serious about preventing nuclear proliferation, our standards should apply consistently—not only to our adversaries, but also to our allies. The American people deserve a foreign policy based on peace, accountability, and the rule of law—not double standards.
