The BLOC Act: Fascim, Racism, and Xenophobia Bill

To: Sen. Hickenlooper, Rep. Crank, Sen. Bennet

From: A constituent in Colorado Springs, CO

March 8, 2025

Rep. Jeff Crank (CO-05) introduced the BLOC Act, which, if passed, would bar federal transportation dollars from going to sanctuary cities.    The BLOC Act would bar the Department of Transportation from funding infrastructure projects in sanctuary cities. Sanctuary cities create a safer environment for immigrants. These policies have been around for decades. (Churches have had these policies for centuries.) Documented and undocumented immigrants are living in fear, which goes against the very fabric of this country. Statistics show that sanctuary cities are actually safer and perform better than non-sanctuary cities because they are a true representation of American culture: people working together to improve their lives. (See Tom K. Wong study from University of California-San Diego.) Citizens and immigrants develop substantial economies, trust with law enforcement. Immigrants built our country. This "bill" is nothing more than fascism, racism, and xenophobia.
