Oppose Military Intervention in Cuba and Unconstitutional Executive Overreach

I am writing to you today with a sense of extreme urgency. While I am deeply concerned by the economic impact of the current fuel blockade against Cuba, my primary concern is the administration's recent rhetoric suggesting that a unilateral military intervention to depose the Cuban leadership is "imminent." Following the recent operations in Venezuela and Iran, I am alarmed by the trend of this administration using the U.S. military to violate the sovereignty of other nations without a declaration of war or a clear mandate from Congress. As my representative, I ask that you hold the line on the following: -- Sovereignty and the Rule of Law: The United States does not have the right to arbitrarily decide who leads other nations. Violating Cuban sovereignty to satisfy a personal or political agenda is a betrayal of our national values and sets a dangerous global precedent. -- The War Powers Act: I urge you to support a War Powers Resolution that explicitly forbids the use of military funds or personnel for any offensive operations against Cuba. Our military should be used for national defense, not for forced "regime change" maneuvers that prioritize ego over strategic stability. -- Economic Blowback for Our State: The current "Maximum Pressure" campaign, specifically Executive Order 14380, is already threatening our trade relationship with Mexico—our second-largest export market. Escalating to a military conflict would further destabilize regional trade, leading to a surge in grocery prices and energy costs for your constituents. The U.S. military is the most powerful force on earth, and its use should require the highest level of Congressional oversight, not a unilateral decision by the Executive branch. I expect you to act as a constitutional check on this overreach and to publicly oppose any move toward military intervention in the Caribbean. I look forward to a prompt response detailing your stance on H.R. 7521 and the current status of War Powers oversight.
