NO MORE FUNDS FOR DHS UNTIL THEY FOLLOW THE LAW
To: Sen. Schiff, Sen. Padilla
From: A verified voter in Oakland, CA
January 15
We have an opportunity, this month, to rein in ICE's lawlessness nationwide.
ICE and Border Patrol are part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which is currently funded only through January 30.
The new funding bill that's currently being written is our opportunity to put significant restrictions on ICE and ensure it doesn't get a single penny more to enable its brutality. This bill cannot pass without Dem votes in the Senate, so we have real leverage here.
Every Member of Congress, especially every Democrat, must vote NO on the DHS funding bill unless it:
-Rejects increased funding for ICE or Border Patrol
-Restricts ICE and Border Patrol's ability to conduct
dragnet arrest operations
-Ends Border Patrol deployments to our cities
-Limits DHS's reprogramming and transfer authority
Your constituents are counting on you to protect us from Bovino’s gang of over-resourced thugs, who despite having no legal authority and no respect for the Constitution, are breaking into our cars, homes, businesses, and families, and intentionally terrorizing, abducting, injuring, incarcerating, and killing us. I would hope as our representative you are already on this, but in case this helps: we are depending on you to do everything in your power to make this stop! This war on immigrants in the name of public safety has resulted in our becoming 100% less safe in our own country, and DHS is the party responsible. They must be held to account for their crimes.
