Rein In Ice—Do Not Approve the Homeland Security Appropriations Bill

To: Sen. Moran, Rep. Mann, Sen. Marshall

From: A verified voter in Manhattan, KS

January 19

Please do not approve the Homeland Security Appropriations bill unless there are provisions in the bill to disarm ICE, and to forbid federal agents from taking people on the basis of skin tone, race, ethnicity, accent, language, etc. ICE agents do not have total immunity from and prosecution of civil lawsuit if they harm people. Citizens, even Native Americans, are being hurt, abducted, detained, without access to lawyers or communication or often basic human rights. ICE does not have the right to forcibly enter people’s homes or cars without judicial warrants, or to terrorize with green gas and other violence. As a Jewish constituent, I find the credible reports of ICE going door to door demanding papers (see The Guardian) especially appalling; this is what the Nazis did. The American people overwhelming do not approve of this. You must rein in ICE. Thank you.
