Rep. Vance must promote unity, retract inflammatory claims about immigrants
To: Sen. Vance, Sen. Brown
From: A constituent in Cincinnati, OH
September 17, 2024
I believe J.D. Vance should be expelled from the Senate for inciting violence against his constituents through his baseless and inflammatory claims about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio. His false allegations that Haitian migrants are "stealing and eating local pets" have fueled an atmosphere of fear and hatred, leading to a torrent of threats against schools, businesses, and residents. An elected official promoting such egregious lies to vilify and endanger a minority community is an unacceptable abuse of power. By refusing to retract his statements and condemn the threats they have provoked, Sen. Vance is doubling down on dividing his community rather than working to unite it. His actions have crossed a line, and he should be held accountable through expulsion from the Senate for this reprehensible conduct.
