An Open Letter

To: Sen. Padilla, Sen. Schiff

From: A constituent in Ventura, CA

May 6

I urge you to vote NO on the SAVE America Act. This bill is unnecessary. Federal law already prohibits non-citizens from voting in all federal elections. In practice, the SAVE Act would make voting more difficult for all U.S. citizens, including the 69 million married women who have changed their names, members of our military, rural and older voters, and more. As a member of Congress, you should be working to ensure that all U.S. citizens can exercise their fundamental right to vote — not putting needless burdens on eligible voters. The dangerous impacts of this bill are clear, and would impact every eligible voter in California and across the country. That’s why we are asking you to vote NO on the SAVE America Act. Thank you.
