The Trump administration is dismantling the Department of Education without a single vote from Congress, and I need you to act. Oppose the transfer of education programs to agencies that won't enforce student protections, push back hard against the proposal to reclassify professional degrees and slash student loan access, and refuse to pass any federal funding bill that enables these cuts.
As a public school teacher, I see every day how much families in my district depend on federal education programs. The gutting of civil rights enforcement, the near-elimination of the special education oversight team, and the proposed defunding of Title I support for low-income students will hit my students hardest. These aren't abstract policy shifts — they mean real kids lose real resources.
Congress has the authority and the responsibility to stop this. Conduct oversight into an executive branch that is unilaterally dismantling a federal agency it has no legal authority to abolish on its own. The Department of Education exists because Congress created it. Only Congress can end it.
