No More Funding for ICE. Demand more Accountability and Oversight
To: Sen. Schiff, Sen. Padilla
From: A constituent in Westlake Village, CA
January 31
I’m writing to urge you to filibuster the upcoming Homeland Security appropriations bill. I’m sick of watching lawful citizens and noncitizens being arrested at their jobs, assaulted at peaceful protests, pulled out of their vehicles, blinded by munitions, abducted without due process, and getting shot and killed. Masked ICE agents have shown themselves to lack restraint and proper training in de-escalation. I fear they have been given a carte blanche to harass and inflict wanton harm to our communities without proper oversight and accountability. This sets a dangerous precedent for our country and should instill fear in the hearts of all Americans. How many others must die before we realize how far this has gone? Senators like you need to filibuster this bill so that ICE doesn’t get another penny. It already has $18.75 billion for 2026 — it doesn’t need another $10 billion. My fellow California residents and I will be watching your vote — and we will remember. Please do the right thing.
