Stop Elon Musk

To: Rep. Arrington, Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn

From: A constituent in Abilene, TX

February 4

Clear The replacement of our constitutional system of government with the whims of an unelected private citizen is a coup. The U.S. president has no authority to cut programs created and funded by Congress, and a private citizen tapped by a president has even less standing to try anything so radical. But Republicans are allowing Musk to run amok. By letting Musk make the cuts the MAGA base wants, they can both provide those cuts and distance themselves from them. But permitting a private citizen to override the will of our representatives in Congress destroys the U.S. Constitution. It also makes Congress itself superfluous. And it takes the minority rule Republicans have come to embrace to the logical end of putting government power in the hands of one man. I ask that you: speak out against an unelected billionaire having undue influence on and control over our government's data, personnel, and payment systems; refuse to cooperate with Musk's private enterprise masking as a government agency; support any and all legal investigations into Musk and his organization's activity; halt all work in Congress until the unconstitutional power grabs stop. Also consider that giving access to SSNs and other data of government employees to non-employees like Musk is a violation of 5 USC 552a, and carries a penalty of $1000 per person whose data was accessed. Allowing Musk to access government employees' data unchecked is allowing him to commit crime unpunished under your watch.
