Data Center in Calvert County

To: Gov. Moore, Del. Fisher, Sen. Harris

From: A constituent in Chesapeake Beach, MD

March 27

We should not have a data center in Calvert County. We are the smallest county in Maryland, a peninsula of 13 miles wide and 35 miles long—at the largest points. We already house the state's only nuclear power plant and one of the two largest LNG plants on the east coast. We have done our part for the state. Calvert is a small, fragile ecosystem. Adding unproven, ever-changing, emission-heavy, heavy industrial, commercial growth threatens our residents and our environment. So much of our county is in the critical bay area. Individuals have to ask permission to cut down an single tree in their own yard. How is it reasonable that a data center be in the critical bay area? How are we residents expected to respect the regulations if they are going to be lifted by a pollution generating data center? At a minimum, the residents of Calvert County deserve a 2 year moratorium on approvals or construction permits/zoning/ordinances for data center.  Please. Thank you.
