Investigate the Trump administration's abuses of power before more damage is done. Republican Congressman Thomas Massie has eight articles of impeachment against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ready for a vote as early as next week. Those articles accuse Hegseth of waging war without congressional authorization, ordering extrajudicial killings, retaliating against a sitting senator, and directing the seizure of a foreign leader in Venezuela. These are not political grievances. They are documented violations of the Constitution.
The incoming House Oversight Committee has already outlined an aggressive investigative agenda. That work should begin on day one. The Justice Department withheld more than two million pages of Epstein files. Jared Kushner is shaping Middle East policy while billions flow through his investment fund. Elon Musk ran a federal agency with no congressional oversight. Every one of these demands scrutiny, on camera, under oath.
The voters sent a clear message. The war in Iran, started without congressional approval, drove this election. Even Trump admitted the war was "largely" to blame for Republican losses. Congress has both the authority and the obligation to act. Do not wait.
