The Arizonians Accommodations For All Children Act (SB1182) represents a concerning threat to the privacy, dignity and safety of transgender students in public schools. Forcing students to use facilities that do not align with their gender identity promotes discrimination, harassment and violence against an already vulnerable group. This bill directly contradicts guidance from major education and health organizations aimed at fostering inclusive environments for all students. Rather than unnecessarily policing students' access to restrooms and locker rooms, schools should implement policies that respect every child's right to learn in an affirmative, supportive setting free from stigma. Transgender students simply want the same ability as their peers to access facilities that correspond with their deeply felt sense of self. Denying this basic accommodation serves no legitimate purpose. I urge you to stand against this harmful legislation that compromises core values of equality and human rights. All students deserve to feel safe, respected and able to thrive academically.
