This Republican administration believes it is above the law

To: Rep. Van Duyne, Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn

From: A constituent in Dallas, TX

January 21

The Department of Justice on January 17th filed a motion to prevent the remainder of the Epstein child-sex-trafficking files being released. This Republican administration believes it is above the law. Why is Congress not checking this overreach and demanding the files be released? Why are you not speaking out? If an executive agency can ignore a duly-enacted statute, and then claim immunity from enforcement, Congress’s lawmaking power is effectively nullified. We become a banana republic where your office no longer has any meaning or authority. The legislative branch of government longer has any meaning or authority. That cannot be accepted. This is not about partisanship. It is about whether powerful institutions are subject to the same laws as everyone else. Survivors, victims, and the public deserve transparency, not delay, defiance, or procedural evasion. Congress wrote this law. Congress must now enforce it.
