I am writing as a concerned constituent to urge Congress to seriously evaluate whether the President remains capable of fulfilling the duties of the office. The 25th Amendment was created precisely for situations in which a president's physical or cognitive condition may impair their ability to lead the nation safely and effectively. This is not a partisan issue. It is a matter of national security, public trust, and responsible governance. Increasing concerns about the President's memory, judgment, coherence, and ability to consistently perform the demanding responsibilities of the office deserve objective scrutiny. When ordinary Americans show signs of significant cognitive decline, families seek medical evaluation, support, and appropriate care. We do not place them in positions where a moment of confusion could have consequences for millions of people. The presidency carries responsibilities unlike any other office in the nation. The person occupying that role must make decisions involving military action, national emergencies, diplomacy, intelligence briefings, and the nation's nuclear arsenal. Americans deserve confidence that those decisions are being made by someone fully capable of understanding and responding to rapidly changing events. Dementia patients need memory care, compassion, and medical support—not access to nuclear codes. That statement is not cruel. It is a recognition that cognitive impairment is a serious medical condition that requires appropriate treatment and safeguards. If there is credible evidence that the President may no longer be able to faithfully discharge the powers and duties of the office, Congress has both the authority and the obligation to investigate those concerns. Ignoring them out of political convenience would be a failure of constitutional responsibility. I ask you to publicly support a thorough, independent evaluation of the President's fitness for office and, if warranted by the evidence, support the constitutional processes outlined in the 25th Amendment. The American people deserve transparency, accountability, and leadership that places the nation's interests above partisan loyalty.
