Dear Representative Nunn, I am one of your constituents in Iowa’s Third Congressional District, and I’m writing because I have a question I’d like answered directly. Iowa currently has the second-highest rate of new cancer cases of any state in the country, and it is one of only three states where cancer rates are still rising. Researchers point to pesticide exposure — alongside nitrates, PFAS, and radon — as a significant contributing factor. Families across our district are living with this crisis right now. At the same time, your campaign has accepted approximately $30,000 in contributions from pesticide-industry PACs. I’d like to ask you directly: why? How do you reconcile accepting money from the industry whose products are linked to the cancers devastating Iowa families, while representing a state at the center of this crisis? What specifically are you doing — or willing to do — to push for stronger oversight of pesticide use and support for Iowans affected by cancer, regardless of industry donations to your campaign?
