Please protect our National Parks

To: Rep. Landsman, Sen. Husted, Sen. Moreno

From: A constituent in Cincinnati, OH

February 26

It is unacceptable for the federal government to destroy our national parks. These public lands provide immeasurable benefits to the public and the wildlife that calls America home. Please vote no and stop the destruction of our great lands by both defending them and drilling in them. Clear Please protect our National Parks. Around 325 million people visit National Park sites each year, and 159 million use national forests annually. These are people across all party lines and from across the nation. National Parks are (literally) part of our identity as a nation. They are critical to our people, the wildlife that calls North America home, and to our economy. In 2023, the National Parks generated $55.6 billion in economic output for the national economy. The current cuts will devastate the country’s park system when a number of sites are already understaffed and underfunded. Please call on Secretary Burgum to stop slashing the National Park Service staff and National Forest Service staff and ask him to waive the hiring freeze for the agency. In addition, please help your fellow Congress members to stop any movement on drilling or developing on National Park lands. Please, I urge you, to make protecting these national lands a priority.
