No Tax Dollars for Insurrectionists
To: Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Carter
From: A constituent in Leander, TX
May 29
The American people are watching a disgrace unfold in plain sight, and Congress cannot continue pretending this corruption is acceptable. The so-called “$1.776 Fund” is nothing more than a politically connected operation funneling taxpayer-backed benefits, influence, and financial support toward individuals tied to the January 6 insurrection — the very people who attacked our Capitol, assaulted police officers, threatened elected lawmakers (including YOU), and attempted to overturn a lawful presidential election. Americans saw the violence with our own eyes. We watched Confederate flags carried through the halls of Congress. We heard the chants calling for the execution of elected officials and the Vice President of the United States. No amount of revisionist propaganda will erase that history. Now, instead of defending democracy and upholding the rule of law, powerful figures are rewarding the very extremists who tried to destroy it. This is not patriotism. It is corruption from the top down. Taxpayer dollars should never be used — directly or indirectly — to benefit insurrectionists, political loyalists, or organizations that glorify political violence. Americans work too hard and pay too much in taxes to watch our money weaponized for partisan favoritism and extremist rehabilitation campaigns. Veterans, teachers, seniors, working families, and struggling communities are told there is “not enough funding” for critical programs, yet somehow there is money and political capital available for people connected to an attack on American democracy itself. Congress has both the authority and the obligation to investigate every financial connection, donor pipeline, government relationship, tax arrangement, and political protection surrounding this fund. Every dollar must be traced. Every conflict of interest must be exposed. Every official enabling this abuse of public trust must be held accountable. Enough excuses. Enough delays. Enough cowardice. If Congress refuses to act against blatant corruption tied to January 6, then you are sending a dangerous message that political violence is acceptable when it benefits the right people. That is unacceptable in a democracy. The United States cannot survive if those entrusted to defend the Constitution instead protect extremists and reward those who attacked the peaceful transfer of power. The American people demand immediate investigations, public transparency, financial oversight, and an end to every taxpayer-supported pathway benefiting January 6 participants and their political backers. Do your jobs. Defend the Constitution. Protect taxpayer dollars. Stop this corruption now.
