I strongly urge you to oppose any cuts to Medicaid, a vital program that provides health coverage to nearly 80 million Americans, including low-income adults, children, seniors, and people with disabilities. Medicaid is instrumental in ensuring access to essential healthcare services, empowering individuals to seek preventive care and reducing overwhelming medical costs for families with limited budgets. Cutting Medicaid would disproportionately harm the most vulnerable populations, including children, seniors, disabled individuals, and those with mental illnesses or substance use disorders. Furthermore, it would exacerbate existing healthcare inequities by stripping coverage from communities of color who have faced systemic barriers to wealth-building and employer-provided insurance. As the largest source of federal funding for states, Medicaid cuts would also strain state budgets, threaten the sustainability of hospitals and clinics, and potentially jeopardize the critical work of community health workers. Protecting Medicaid is a matter of upholding the fundamental right to health for all. I implore you to reject any proposals that would reduce access to this indispensable program and commit to strengthening Medicaid to safeguard the well-being of our communities.
