Accountability to Your Constituents

To: Sen. Schmitt, Sen. Hawley

From: A verified voter in Kansas City, MO

April 28

This is your weekly reminder that your actions are not going unnoticed and will have consequences at the ballot box. Choosing to rubber stamp an agenda that prioritizes political loyalty over the well being of your constituents is both disgraceful and deeply embarrassing. Your responsibility is to the people you represent, not to any one individual or administration. Your support for policies that threaten people’s access to affordable healthcare while approving the use of taxpayer dollars for foreign aid raises serious concerns about your priorities. Many of us expect our elected officials to put the needs of their own constituents first. Right now, it appears you have abandoned that responsibility. Voters are paying attention, and your continued failure to stand up for your constituents is eroding any remaining trust. If this continues, it is difficult to see a path to your reelection. You still have time to change course and start representing the people who put you in office.
