Respect the Will of the People: Stand Against Blocking Cabinet Appointments
To: Sen. Warner, Rep. Wexton, Sen. Kaine

November 10
Here’s the letter with everything removed so you can easily copy it: I am writing to express my strong concern over any potential moves by Senate members to obstruct President Donald Trump’s cabinet appointments. The recent election results clearly demonstrate the will of the people, who have chosen President Trump to lead our country. Our democracy is founded on respecting that mandate, regardless of party lines, and it is essential that our elected representatives ensure his administration’s nominees receive a fair and timely confirmation process. As a U.S. Army veteran and a registered Democrat, I am deeply committed to upholding the principles that define our democracy. While this may involve supporting individuals or leaders outside my own party, the integrity of our democratic process must come first. We cannot allow procedural tactics to stand in the way of a fully functional government. The Constitution explicitly grants the President authority to make recess appointments if the Senate is unavailable, as stated in Article II, Section 2, Clause 3: “The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session.” This clause exists to prevent partisan deadlock and to ensure continuity in leadership. I urge you to stand against any attempts to block the President’s appointments and to ensure that nominees are given the fair consideration our democracy demands. Our representatives have an obligation to respect the voice of the people and to maintain a functional government. If efforts are made to block these nominations, I support keeping the Senate in continuous session to ensure fair consideration of all appointments.
