I urge you to vote against confirming Emil Bove to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit. As a former Trump lawyer and senior Justice Department official, Bove has demonstrated a disturbing willingness to disregard the rule of law and judicial orders to advance the previous administration's agenda. A whistleblower complaint alleges Bove instructed subordinates to ignore court orders related to immigration deportations. He was also involved in the highly controversial efforts to drop federal corruption charges against a political ally and fire prosecutors handling the January 6th Capitol attack cases. These actions point to a concerning lack of respect for judicial independence and the impartial administration of justice. Confirming someone with Bove's record to a lifetime appointment on the federal bench would undermine public trust in the judiciary's ability to serve as an impartial check on excessive executive power. His history raises doubts about his capability to fairly review cases that conflict with the previous administration's policy goals. I urge you to thoroughly investigate these serious allegations before considering his nomination further. An independent judiciary is a cornerstone of our democracy.
