The SAVE Act suite of bills is a dangerous step towards the disenfranchisement of millions of voters, with the end goal of keeping a fascist regime in power. The restrictions on voting proposed in these bills would disproportionately impact those who have changed their names upon marriage or for any other reason, the military, families who have lost documents in natural disasters (and cannot afford or have not had the opportunity to obtain replacements), and people of color, who are three times more likely to face issues concerning access to or possession of important documents including birth certificates and passports. The issue is clear: fascists are destroying our government and the country it is supposed to support, and it is up to you, our elected officials, to have spines and stand up against this exact sort of tyranny. These bills, and others like them, need to be stopped, right now.
