Disability rights are human rights. Disability is something that could happen to any one of us at any time. For those who have been living and navigating the laws and rights of the disabled community, it is terrifying to see talk of medical records being released without HIPPA compliance, see registries being formed without consent, and to find out that lawmakers at the highest level are talking about the institutionalization of those with disabilities. You lead a state that is run by a disabled man, do you think Abbott should have less rights merely because he is in a wheelchair? If the answer is ‘no’, then I implore you to shut down any conversation that takes away rights from individuals living with and families caring for a member of the disabled community.
Thank you.
