This new federal data platform consolidating millions of Americans' sensitive personal records raises significant privacy and civil liberties concerns. While aimed at fraud detection and public safety, the lack of public oversight and legal guardrails creates risks of surveillance overreach and misuse, particularly given the polarized political climate. Centralizing vast amounts of data under an AI system controlled by one company exposes Americans to potential violations of privacy and due process without proper checks and balances. Although presented as an efficiency measure, this represents a massive expansion of government data collection and analytics capabilities that could enable troubling new forms of social control and discrimination absent stronger protections. This database must not be created and controlled by one entity. For the sake of citizens' rights and government accountability, there must be strict limits placed on how this data is used and who has access to prevent abuse and uphold core democratic values.
