I’m writing to urge you to continue to support our libraries in our nation. President Trump signed an executive order that calls for the elimination of the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the nation’s only federal agency for America’s libraries. Americans have loved and relied on public, school, and academic libraries for generations. Eliminating this agency will cut off at the knees the most beloved and trusted institution in America. Libraries provide early literacy development grade level reading programs. Also summer reading programs. Libraries offer high speed internet access. And also employment assistance, help for the blind and more. To dismiss 75 committed workers and mission of the agency is to dismiss the needs of everyday Americans. Please restore this valuable American asset to our country.
