The ICE Out bills—limiting ICE access to non-public city spaces, barring use of city property for enforcement, stopping deputization, protecting personal data, and adding immigration status as a protected class—would strengthen public safety by ensuring residents can report crimes, seek care, and use city services without fear. Please commit to: - Publicly endorsing the ICE Out package and urging Council to pass it quickly. - Directing city agencies to adopt clear policies and staff training to refuse improper ICE access and protect resident data. - Ensuring city resources are used for community safety and inclusion—not federal enforcement—while cooperating with lawful requests that protect public safety.
