**Investigate ICE's Shooting of Oscar Belgal and End These Dangerous Operations**
Investigate the ICE shooting of Oscar Belgal and demand that he receive immediate medical care. A bullet is lodged in his neck. His lawyers say he urgently needs surgery, yet he sits in solitary confinement at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn with inadequate food and no adequate medical treatment. The left side of his face is numb, he can barely hear from his left ear, and he has an unaddressed shoulder injury.
The tactics used in this October 8 Marble Hill operation were reckless and put New Yorkers at risk. Agents in construction vests and masks, carrying long guns, fired at least seven shots at a moving vehicle with a 5-year-old child in the backseat. The NYPD was not involved and would not have opened fire in that situation. When federal agents are indistinguishable from civilians on the street, that is not law enforcement. That is chaos.
Oscar Belgal must receive surgery and humane conditions now. And these operations, conducted without coordination with local law enforcement and with no regard for bystander safety, must stop. Bronx DA Darcel Clark is already investigating. That scrutiny is warranted, and it should go further.
