Senior Nutrition Programs across the state are being squeezed by inflation and reduced federal funding. It is time to adjust the funding of the OLDER AMERICANS ACT to adequately address the needs of Older Americans that receive Meals on Wheels or similar nutritional assistance. The Federal Funding in the Older Americans Act does not contain an escalator clause and has been flat for a number of years. The result in Skagit County is the ending of County program funding and the transfer to Charitable Organisations. We understand that it takes a villiage to raise a child. In a similar fashion, we need to have the same village take care of our elderly. Food security is one of those things we MUST protect. That is why we must reinvigorate the Older Americans Act to provide national funding in line with the growing need as the older population continues to grow
