An Open Letter

To: Rep. Joyce, Sen. Moreno, Sen. Husted

From: A constituent in Ashtabula, OH

February 26

I am writing to you today as your constituent to express my outrage and profound alarm regarding the conduct of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in our STATE. Specifically, I am referring to the documented incident at Easton Town Center, where federal agents deployed pepper spray into a moving vehicle containing a mother and her three children. The fact that this occurred in a high-traffic public space in our capital city, with Columbus police reportedly responding to the scene, is deeply disturbing. Utilizing chemical irritants in proximity to minors and into moving vehicle that could have crashed and harmed innocent bystanders is an excessive and dangerous escalation that poses a direct threat to the safety of the public. As a representative of Ohio, you have a duty to ensure that the people of this state are protected from such reckless tactics. Federal law enforcement agencies do not have a blank check to terrorize our neighborhoods, and the wanton deployment of force is unacceptable. Demand that ICE agents be held accountable for this use of force.
